I had a doctor’s appointment at ohsu today which overlapped the edge of the cold blast that’s gonna clobber the United States starting about now, so the trip up wasn’t that bad, but holy cow the trip back was something else. If climate change is going to bring sharp winter cold spells to offset the summer heat waves I’m going to have to get pogies for my winter bikes because my so-called-insulated gloves are just not doing it.

Mavis stares up at me from her sleeping blanket, unaware that I’m about to scoop her up, shove her into a cat carrier, then take her off to the kitty ER so they can see what’s making her sick (spoiler: a kidney infection, cleared up with antibiotics and boy she haaaates having it squirted down her gullet twice a day.)
