Freedom-to-marry mite

It was either this or rainbow-flag body paint

Winning the internet

The 14th amendment came out of the closet today, but it was born that way.

Gwen, @ Lawyers, Guns & Money

And onwards into the 21st century!

marriage is legal!

Held: The Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State. Pp. 3-28.

Approximately 400 miles now

The mountainhack & Stasia's Soma in Estacada

… and the rear triangle still hasn’t disintegrated on me! I guess it’s time to start laying out tubing on the basement floor so I can mock up an “almost mountainhack but with 73°/73° geometry” frame.

New Code!

Levee has, after an interval of a few years, been rolled up to version 3.5b with tweaks to make it compile on OSX 10.10 (getcontext() and getline() are now part of the stupid standard library on that machine; I just can’t wait for 10.11 and to see what other parts of levee are suddenly part of the standard library), some proofing of the documentation, and the addition of a new feature (g, in visual mode, maps to 1G for symmetry with G – without a count – mapping to ∞G)

Given any luck, these teeny changes won’t make levee into the electronic equivalent of a paper shredder. Why not download it and find out?

And now it’s time to disassemble and repaint the 3-speed project bike…

Unfocused fixie

The GT reassembled and ready (hopefully?) to ride again. Don’t look too closely at the paint job!

Eat the falafel, not the mite

Dust Mite helps me decide what to eat for dinner.

Reflective clearcoat and decals

Not so much reflective as it is glowy

Only a couple of gloss clear protective coats to go, then I get to reassemble the whole shebang.

If you stand well back you can’t see the paint drips

In the throes of painting

2 (of 3) coats of gloss ivory paint on the GT’s frame+fork. Alas, this rattlecan paint is pretty fragile and if I look at it too severely it chips :-(

Waste not, want not

Wire port under the downtube

A reinforcement for a wiring port (on my GT) made from an eyelet out of a worn-out Mavic Open Sport rim. There are two wiring ports on this frame – this one under the downtube up by the fork, and the other on the seattube right where the seatstays cross by on their way to the toptube (I reamed the top 6 inches of the seattube from 26.6mm to 27.2mm, and the seatstays cross about 7 inches down from the top of the seattube) so I can run wiring via the BB (and also run wiring out the chainstays if I want MOAR LIGHT!)

Strip tease

I’m stripping the paint off the GT so I can braze a bunch of stuff on without making the machine more of a collection of paint patches.

Do not worry, I had another set of Gary TURNER decals lying around just for this eventuality.
