Conspicuous consumption
… for values of “conspicuous” that include building a wheelset up from parts that were lying around, some since the late 2000s (the rims are Matrix Titan II – a Trek house brand from ancient times – that were laced into the wheels that came on the Trek 1000 I bought in 1989) and all used bits except for some of the spokes/nipples.
But it will be nice to have the midlifecrisismobile pursued around Oregon & Washington by a flock of angry bees.
(Also note that the low-profile box-section rims + Nomads visually mass much the same way Confreries do on modern 650b rims.)
