I hate daylight savings time

#19dusk

It’s officially winter when I walk out of work at 5pm and it’s already dark. If not for daylight’s savings time, this would not be so much of a problem, but as it is it makes for a pretty depressing three months in the middle of winter.

Portland winters are a pretty grim lot. We’re pretty far north (so winter days are very short) but it doesn’t snow here, which sort of defeats the whole idea of having winter. So I wake up in the morning when it’s dark, make it to work just as the sun comes up, work all day, then leave work in the evening when there’s about 45 minutes of sun left and walk home to arrive at my door just as it gets really dark.

Ick. Double ick. And the lottery persists in not giving me a winning number even after I make the extreme sacrifice of actually buying a lottery ticket. Sheesh. Perhaps I should start making money the old fashioned way – arrange large donations to the Evil Party, then stand in the loot-the-treasury queue along with the Blackwaters and Halliburtons of the world.

Could we get a partition going to end this craziness!!!! There are many places that do not adhere to a time change and they do well!
