Silas at the park
We had a really nasty stormfront roll through a few days ago, and the little pine (or douglas hyphen fir) forest at Sellwood Park shed an amazing number of branches into the rest of the park. Only one of the trees actually fell down; one of the smallest pines (or dhf's) had a rotted trunk and was being held up by its bark and one 3x10 chunk of good wood. I guess the 60+ mph wind managed to stress it enough to put it into a drinking straw failure (and, unlike plastic, tree bark and wood isn't that good at bending without breaking.)
