Who knew the North Pole was at Portland Traction's (long-abandoned) Tacoma street station?
OMSI, the Friends of the 4449, the Pacific Railroad Preservation Association , and Portland Traction The Oregon Pacific Railroad got together to run mini Polar Expresses from East Portland Junction up to Tacoma Street station and back. They started running the trains today, and the best, Silas, and I spotted the smoke from one of the trains as we headed north to get passport photos late this afternoon, so we immediately changed our plans to include a brief stop to take photos (and get our tickets, which we had somehow forgotten to get around to getting.)
