I don't have much time to post now, but I can't resist bragging about my mother and grandmother (and uncle and stepfather).
We (the kids and I) are going to visit Mom & Steve's in Pennsylvania. Just look what Mom set up to help the kids get excited and feel at home! Grandpa Steve appears to have joined in with gusto, too.
Isn't that great?!
As for my grandmother and uncle John, they took hundreds of family slides and made them into computer files to share (by CD) with everyone, for Christmas presents. WOW!

How Groundhog's Garden Grew is a great book. Your folks have good taste in lit!
If you check out the advisors for that book, you'll see Janet Wright (the GrandMom in question) listed! She used to study groundhogs and provided photos of baby groundhogs, if my memory is correct.
